9. Power Outage?...................12-volt lights plus propane heat, cooking &
refrigerator, self-contained water tank w/pump plus a 5,500 watt generator for
back-up
10. Economical Lifestyle?.......RV park average under $300/month includes water,
trash and many w/cable, pool, recreation hall, laundry, mail, etc.
Did I leave anything out? A comfortable RV costs less than most newer cars
nowadays - compare that to a house mortgage or apartment rent! Think you might
miss a yard to mow and maintain? Most RV park spaces include a lawn, patio,
landscaping and some even provide picnic tables, BBQ's, etc.
For more pictures of the Rising River RV Park I live in, that is a link to a
website I made for it. It is a 68-space modern and strictly RV park on the
Umpqua River. The under $300 rent includes cable TV, water, sewer, trash, picnic
table and lawn maintenance. There is a maintained 800'+ shaded picnic, swimming
and fishing area on the river. It has recreation room with a pool table,
kitchenette, exchange library and very modern laundry, all shown in the pictures
at that website.
It is located 8 miles south of a 20,000 population town with major shopping, a
small airport and a large Veterans Admistration Hospital surrounded by both its
own golf course and a municipal golf course. Highlights of the area are a July
4th Graffitti Week with over 500 classic cars and summer Tuesday nights "Music
On The Half Shell" in a park on the river.
The RV park itself is on the outskirts of the small town of Winston that is on a
major route to the Pacific Ocean only 60 miles to the west and 1 mile from a
large drive-through zoo called "Wildlife Safari". The area is surrounded by
300'-500' rolling hills that protect it from major weather-related extremes or
harm and no known earthquake faults. Summer temperatures average in the high
80's, occasional 90's and 100's and winters in the 40's.
